Welcome to The Royal Welsh Yacht Club
Set within the medieval walled town of Caernarfon, Porth yr Aur is the oldest yacht club premises in the world. Its unique position offers breath-taking views over the Menai Strait and the old town. Its association with the sea and sailing and the culture and heritage that have developed in their wake are as alive and relevant today as they ever were.
Over the centuries numerous events have shaped the colourful tapestry of its history from an early Welsh rebellion to the splendour and pageantry of the Victorian Regattas and the present-day renovation of the site and building.
From the onset its founders and members have contributed to its success and have achieved great personal seafaring accomplishments of which we are justifiably proud.
Today the Royal Welsh Yacht Club is a vibrant establishment with a varied programme of sailing and rowing events and social gatherings. Why not join us to sample the welcome, and learn more about the fascinating history of this most magical of places and the people that have graced it with their presence.

Help needed with the production of the 2027 Yearbook
There is a vacancy for a ‘Production Manager’ to join the team. Responsible for arranging printing/paper quality/stapling etc.
- Advertising space - would any members want to place an ad or know anyone who would?
- Submit an article - interesting person or place or event or cock-up!
- There's a competition - please submit a local photo - the winning picture would be included on the front cover.

Calling out to members willing to share their epic tales of daring do from this year's holidays and cruising, passages that went to plan and those who didn't (cock ups and lessons learned!) rowing trips with a difference, stand out events on and off the water.
Our Yearbook team would like to go to press early 2027 so it would be fabulous if you could send in your contributions by mid-October if possible.
Members Only Area
The website has been reorganised to better comply with Data Protection legislation and any content that may contain personal information or information regarding the management of the Club, has been moved into the Members Only area which is password protected. Any club member that uses the website can apply. For access, click on Members Area from the top menu bar. At the bottom, you will see 'Don't have an account? Click here to register'. This will take you to an electronic form where you can enter your First Name, Last Name, Email Address and a strong Password known only to yourself. Click on Register to submit the form. This will be checked and approved by the Website manager. On subsequent occasions, you will only need to enter your email and password. Content now contains a digital version of the Yearbook 2026.
